 Families of Religions  Hinduism

The many spiritual traditions of India arising over some 3000 years in India are widely known today as Hinduism. The primary sacred texts are the Vedas. They present God as one and as recognized by various names. Temples are places for prayers, offerings, singing and teaching. Families and individuals observe rituals and festivals at home and at temple. One description of Hindu thought is, "Truth is one that the wise call by different names".
Calendar dates for sacred times are determined by both solar and lunar computations. Dates also vary by region and sub-group.
