Orthodox

“Orthodox” is a term used primarily in North America to describe practices that are referred to elsewhere as “more observant.” The Orthodox movement holds that Written and Oral Torah are of divine origin (except for scribal errors), are the heart of the tradition, and are the exact words of the divine authority, not representing any human creativity or influence. Hebrew is the language used in all worship services. Sexes are seated separately in the synagogue. Women are not ordained as Rabbi. Traditional Talmudic law is observed regarding food and behavior.
